The United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) is dedicated to promoting inclusion, gender equality, and diversity within its workforce. In accordance with the United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy and the System-wide Strategy on Gender Parity, ECA is implementing focused outreach initiatives to engage candidates from underrepresented communities, including individuals with disabilities.

This internship presents a distinctive opportunity to assist in advancing ECA’s agenda for diversity, equity, and inclusion, especially concerning the enhancement of outreach strategies and the support of inclusive recruitment practices.

Position: Internship – Finance and Budget Section

Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:

(a) Applicants to the UN Internship Programme are not required to have professional work experience. However, a field of study that is closely related to the type of internship that you are applying for is required.

(b) Applicants must be a student in the final year of the first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PH.D. Programme.

(c) Applicants should be pursuing or have completed studies in administration, business administration, finance, accounting, information systems, data management, public administration, or another related field relevant to administrative and finance support services. Please indicate your field of study and how it relates to this internship.

(d) Applicants should demonstrate an interest in digital tools, automation or process improvement through academic coursework, university projects, personal learning or other experiences. Please describe any exposure you have had to these areas.

(e) Demonstrated interest or exposure to digital tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Forms, SharePoint, Power Automate, Power BI, dashboards, trackers or similar tools is desirable. Please provide examples from coursework, projects, volunteer activities or other experiences.
