The main purpose of the internship programme will be to support the development and enhancement of the intern’s professional and educational experience through practical work assignments, to expose the intern to the work of PIE as well as well as promote learning for the intern in department aspects. 

The intern will ensure general support in any activities/projects and will provide end-user support. The intern will perform tasks to familiarize herself with the function and acquire capacity. The intern will be assigned one relevant and exciting project to plan, develop and implement during the period of her assignment.

Position 1: Nutrition Assistant/ Measurer

The Individual

 

 

  • Education: Diploma/BSc Nursing/Public Health; FMOH registration and from a recognized University/health college and related field.

  • Minimum three years’ experience with INGO/NGO of Infant and young Child Feeding practices /treatment of malnourished children in nutrition program (TSFP) implementation – case definition and care, clinical management, TSFP management, data collection and compilation, working with counterpart for lasting intervention, training of health workers, etc

 

Qualifications/ experience desirable:

  • Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.

  • Ability to work and create the partnership with key government and peer partner and stakeholders

  • Experienced on IYCF-E, IMAM guideline.

 

Languages required:

  • Excellent English verbal and written skills.

  • Knowledge of local language (Afaan Oromoo) is Mandatory.

Position 2: TSFP Nurse

The Individual

 

 

 

  • Education: HO/Public health, BSc Nursing Degree from a recognized University/health college and related field.

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience with INGO/NGO of Infant and young Child Feeding practices /treatment of malnourished children in nutrition program (TSFP) implementation – case definition and care, clinical management, TSFP management, data collection and compilation, working with counterpart for lasting intervention, training of health workers, etc

 

Qualifications/ experience desirable:

 

  • Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.

  • Ability to work and create the partnership with key government and peer partner and stakeholders

  • Ability to produce quality TSFP-Report (CPDR-Offline and Online)

 

Languages required:

  • Excellent English verbal and written skills.

  • Knowledge of local language (Afaan Oromo) is mandatory

Position 3: Logistics Assistance-Warehouse and Asset

The Individual

 

 

  • BA/Diploma in Business Administration, Purchasing & Supplies Management, and/or other related disciplines.

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

  • At least three years of experience in storekeeping, warehousing, stock control, or related work in INGO.

  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office software suite.

  • Ability to solve problems, take initiative, and plan the tasks

  • Flexibility with time to work extra hours when the project requires

  • Must have knowledge and experience in storekeeping.

  • Knowledge in basic bookkeeping.

  • Must be keen on details.

  • Must have strong built to carry supplies.

  • Strong human relations skills.

  • Strong communication skills.

  • Good team building and motivational skills.

  • Ability to organize own work and a high value for time management.

  • Working with a minimum level of supervision

  • Honest and trustworthy.

Qualifications/ experience desirable:

Position 4: Education Officer – NORAD Project

The Individual

 

  • B.A/B.Sc. degree in Education, Social Studies, Pedagogy, Community Development, Psychology
  • Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in Education and School based multi – sectoral programming.
  • Minimum of two successful assignments in a complex crisis,
  • Experience in mobilizing and training school teachers and students

 

Languages required:

 

  • Fluency in English language is essential.
  • In addition to Amharic other local Knowledge (Afan Oromo) is Mandatory.

Position 5: Protection Specialist

The Individual

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology, Gender Studies, Law, Human Rights, Political Science, or other relevant social science fields (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive professional experience out of which 3 years on a senior level experience
  • in protection programming, including Child Protection and/or Gender-Based Violence in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing protection strategies, developing project proposals, and leading protection interventions.
  • Proven experience providing technical guidance and capacity building to program teams, partners, and government stakeholders.
  • Experience working with government institutions, UN agencies, NGOs, and humanitarian coordination mechanisms at national or sub-national levels.
  • Experience in needs assessments, program monitoring, and evaluation within protection programming.
  • Demonstrated experience in training facilitation, workshop organization, and mentoring of staff and partners.
  • Experience working with major humanitarian donors and understanding donor compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Strong ability to work effectively in complex, multi-cultural, and fast-paced humanitarian environments, including willingness to travel frequently to field locations.

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITY:

  • Strong knowledge of child protection and gender-based violence issues in humanitarian and development contexts.
  • Good understanding of international protection frameworks and standards, including CPMS, GBV Minimum Standards, safeguarding, and protection principles.
  • Ability to analyze protection-related data and contextual trends and translate findings into programmatic recommendations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to plan and prioritize in complex environments.
  • Strong proposal development, report writing, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills, including experience delivering trainings and workshops.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain effective partnerships with government institutions, humanitarian actors, and community stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical support to program teams and partners.
  • Capacity to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in demanding and fast-paced settings.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Willingness to travel to remote field locations including refugee camps often for extended periods depending on need
  • Commitment to and understanding of Plan International’s strategic ambition, aims, values and principles including rights-based programming approaches
