Nexus Ethiopia is a national Ethiopian Civil Society Organization committed to strengthening the resilience of vulnerable and crisis-affected communities through integrated Humanitarian–Development–Peace (HDP) Nexus programming, localization, partnership, and locally led humanitarian action.
Nexus Ethiopia, in partnership with other humanitarian actors, is implementing project entitled Integrated Lifesaving Humanitarian Response for Drought, Flood and Displacement-Affected Communities in Afambo and Amibara Woredas, Afar Region.
Position 1: GRANTS AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Key Responsibilities
- Support effective management of project grants, compliance and reporting requirements.
- Ensure project implementation is consistent with the approved donor proposal, logframe, budget and contractual requirements.
- Track grant deliverables, reporting deadlines, milestones and compliance requirements.
- Maintain an updated grant compliance tracker and project documentation.
- Review project documentation and reports for completeness, consistency and compliance.
- Support preparation and quality assurance of donor reports, including narrative and financial reporting inputs.
- Monitor compliance of sub-implementing partners with contractual, financial and programme requirements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Law, International Relations or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in grants management, compliance, programme quality or project management.
- Demonstrated experience with donor-funded humanitarian or development projects and audit experience is required
- Strong understanding of donor compliance, reporting and documentation requirements.
- Experience with EHF/OCHA-funded projects is highly desirable.
- Experience managing or monitoring sub-grantees/sub-implementing partners is an advantage.
- Excellent analytical, writing, communication and organizational skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent English writing and communication skills.

Position 2: LOGISTICS, ADMINISTRATION and FINANCE OFFICER (LAF OFFICER)
Key responsibilities include:
- Manage day-to-day project financial and administrative operations.
- Maintain accurate financial records, supporting documents and project accounts.
- Process payments, advances, liquidations and financial transactions in accordance with organizational procedures.
- Support preparation and monitoring of project budgets and expenditure forecasts.
- Monitor project expenditure against approved budget lines and identify variances.
- Support procurement and logistics processes in coordination with the relevant departments.
- Ensure proper documentation of procurement, assets, supplies and inventory.
- Facilitate field office administration, travel, accommodation and transportation arrangements.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management, Logistics or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, preferably with NGOs/INGOs.
- Demonstrated experience in project finance, administration and logistics.
- Good understanding of NGO financial management, procurement and compliance requirements.
- Experience with donor-funded humanitarian projects is highly desirable.
- Experience with EHF-funded projects or OCHA requirements is an advantage.
- Strong computer skills, particularly MS Excel and accounting/financial management systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical and documentation skills.
- Fluency in English and Amharic; local language is an advantage.

Position 3: PROJECT COORDINATOR
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide overall coordination and oversight of project implementation across Afambo and Amibara woredas.
- Ensure effective integration and coordination of WaSH, MPC and other sector interventions implemented through sub-partners.
- Develop and monitor detailed implementation plans, activity schedules and project deliverables.
- Coordinate closely with government authorities, humanitarian coordination structures, cluster/sector actors, donor and other relevant stakeholders.
- Ensure effective coordination between Nexus Ethiopia and sub-implementing partners.
- Monitor project progress against targets, indicators, budget and work plans.
- Ensure quality, accountability, protection mainstreaming, gender, inclusion and conflict sensitivity across project activities.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Humanitarian Studies, Development Studies, Project Management, Social Sciences, Disaster Risk Management, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including significant experience in humanitarian project coordination.
- Demonstrated experience managing or coordinating multisectoral humanitarian projects.
- Experience working on project funded by UN agencies, EHF/OCHA, international NGOs, national NGOs and government counterparts is highly desirable.
- Experience managing sub-partners or consortium/multi-partner projects is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of humanitarian principles, accountability, protection mainstreaming and the humanitarian programme cycle.
- Strong reporting, coordination, communication and leadership skills.
- Experience working in Afar or other pastoralist/remote humanitarian contexts is an advantage.
- Fluency in English is required; knowledge of local language is highly desirable.

Position 4: PROJECT MANAGER
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day implementation of assigned project components and activities.
- Ensure project activities are implemented according to approved plans, timelines, quality standards and budget.
- Develop detailed activity plans and coordinate field implementation.
- Supervise project staff and provide technical and operational guidance.
- Coordinate with regional government offices, community structures and humanitarian partners.
- Ensure effective community participation and accountability to affected populations.
- Monitor project progress and identify implementation gaps and challenges.
- Work closely with WaSH, MPC, MEAL, finance, logistics and other technical teams.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Development Studies, Project Management, Humanitarian Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, Disaster Risk Management or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience, including experience managing humanitarian/development projects.
- Demonstrated experience in emergency response and field-level project management.
- Experience in multisectoral programming is highly desirable.
- Strong staff supervision, coordination and reporting skills.
- Experience working with local communities and government authorities in remote areas.
- Experience in Afar Region or pastoralist contexts is an advantage.
- Fluency in English and Amharic; and local language.

Position 5: WaSH OFFICER
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical implementation of the project’s WaSH activities in accordance with approved project plans, standards and technical guidelines.
- Conduct and support WaSH needs assessments and technical assessments.
- Oversee construction, rehabilitation and maintenance of water supply facilities and other WaSH infrastructure as applicable.
- Support provision and distribution of WaSH NFIs and hygiene materials.
- Conduct hygiene promotion and community mobilization activities with key tools such as CLTS, PHAST and three star approach.
- Ensure appropriate quality control and technical supervision of WaSH interventions.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Water Engineering, Hydraulic Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Environmental Health, Public Health, Sanitary Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in humanitarian/development WaSH programming.
- Demonstrated experience in emergency WaSH response, including water supply, sanitation and hygiene promotion.
- Experience with WaSH infrastructure assessment, design/supervision and community-based WaSH programming.
- Experience working in emergency or drought-affected pastoralist communities is highly desirable.
- Strong field coordination, reporting and communication skills.
- Fluency in English and Amharic; local language is an advantage.
