Save the Children – Ethiopia is recruiting Nutrition Assistants to support the implementation of the Targeted Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) in Bale and East Bale zones. This role is ideal for junior‑level health professionals with experience in nutrition, emergency health, and community mobilization. Successful candidates will contribute to improving child and maternal nutrition outcomes while ensuring accountability, quality, and adherence to national guidelines.

Role Purpose
The Nutrition Assistant will support the technical quality implementation of the TSFP program in assigned woredas. Responsibilities include bi‑weekly/monthly program implementation, outreach activities, training of health workers, and strengthening community mobilization.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Technical Leadership
- Support commodity management and distribution with TSFP officers and storekeepers
- Ensure health staff are trained on acute malnutrition management per national guidelines (2019)
- Strengthen coordination at woreda level and among staff
- Monitor program implementation against national protocols (admission/discharge criteria, anthropometry)
- Ensure availability of job aids, reporting formats, therapeutic products, and drugs
- Liaise with local health authorities to integrate CMAM programs into existing structures
- Support monthly screenings of children under 5 and pregnant/lactating women
- Manage stock levels of food commodities and materials, alerting logistics when needed
- Report problems promptly to TSFP Officer
Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning & Quality Assurance
- Facilitate post‑distribution monitoring (PDM)
- Document experiences, challenges, and lessons learned
- Conduct supportive supervision with TSFP Officer and government partners
- Prepare and submit weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports
- Support project assessments and reviews
Required Qualifications
- Education: BSc/Diploma/Level IV in Nursing or Public Health (Senior Clinical/Public Nurse or above)
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years for BSc holders
- Minimum 3 years for Diploma/Level IV holders
- At least 1 year directly related to emergency health & nutrition
Essential Skills
- Knowledge and experience in IMAM/TSFP and community mobilization/BCC
- Peer group training and development of training materials
- Computer literacy (Microsoft Office)
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Respectful, quality‑conscious, and eager to learn
- Fluency in local language required
