Stichting Wageningen Research (SWR) Ethiopia is an international non-profit organization registered in Ethiopia since March 2021 under the FDRE Agency for Civil Society Organizations. The organization focuses on advancing sustainable, inclusive, and resilient food systems throughout Ethiopia.

SWR Ethiopia manages several development and research initiatives, including the Food Futures Eastern Africa Phase II (REFOOTURE II) project—an initiative designed to rethink, redesign, and regenerate food systems for long-term sustainability. REFOOTURE emphasizes collaborative solutions and community-driven transformation in East African food systems.


Position Summary

The Project Management Assistant will support the Project Manager in coordinating, monitoring, and implementing project activities. This role requires strong administrative, organizational, and communication skills, along with the ability to work independently while collaborating across teams. The position supports project execution, reporting, documentation, and continuous process improvement.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support project administration and financial monitoring, including budget tracking, expenditure review, and identifying issues requiring management attention.
  • Assist with planning and monitoring project activities, timelines, deliverables, and timesheet coordination.
  • Work closely with the Project Manager, project team members, and implementing partners to ensure smooth execution of activities.
  • Coordinate with administrative units and staff departments as needed.
  • Prepare and manage internal and external communications, including project updates and documentation.
  • Organize meetings, workshops, events, and project-related gatherings.
  • Take minutes and prepare documentation for project meetings, workshops, and review sessions.

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, preferably in business economics, management, law, or related areas.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in project-driven research environments, preferably linked to Agriculture for Development.

Language Skills

  • Excellent command of English and Amharic, both written and spoken.

Technical Skills

  • Strong computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project administration tools.
  • Skilled in documentation, reporting, and handling multiple software applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities for dealings with government, private sector, partners, and international team members.
