MEAL Officer Job Vacancy – Development for Peace Organization (DPO) – Addis Ababa, 2025

Development for Peace Organization (DPO) is seeking a qualified MEAL Officer to support its monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) activities. The MEAL Officer will play a key role in ensuring results-oriented program monitoring and supporting project staff in effective implementation of MEAL frameworks across all programs.

Job Summary

Reporting to the MEAL Manager, the MEAL Officer will:

  • Facilitate the implementation of MEAL tools across all program activities
  • Support project staff and regional coordinators in adhering to MEAL standards
  • Develop monitoring work plans and ensure timely results-based reporting
  • Maintain MEAL databases and organize program data collection
  • Assist in evaluations, audits, and baseline studies
  • Identify lessons learned and best practices for sharing with stakeholders
  • Contribute to project design, including logframe development
  • Ensure compliance with donor documentation requirements
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the MEAL Manager

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement the MEAL Framework in collaboration with project teams
  • Support capacity building of staff on monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Collect, analyze, and manage project data according to program objectives
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual reports
  • Facilitate audits, evaluations, and baseline studies
  • Contribute to documentation of case studies and dissemination of best practices

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: BA/BSc, BSc/MSc in Development Studies, Rural Development, Statistics, Economics, or related social sciences
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years (BA/BSc) or 4 years (MA/MSc) in MEAL or relevant field
  • Skills & Competencies:
    • Strong analytical and data management skills
    • Excellent communication and report writing skills
    • Team player with adaptability and problem-solving skills
  • Language: Proficiency in English is required; knowledge of local languages is an asset
