Position Overview
The accountant is responsible for managing daily financial transactions, maintaining accurate accounting records, supporting internal audit processes, and ensuring strong internal control systems.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field from a recognized institution.
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration is an advantage.
- Professional certifications such ACCA, CPA, IFRS, or CIA strongly preferred.
Additional training in: - Taxation and Ethiopian Revenue Regulations
- Financial Risk Management
- Internal Control Systems
- Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
- Public Finance & Compliance
Experience - Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in accounting, auditing, and financial management.
- Proven experience in preparing financial statements, management reports, and budget forecasts.
- Strong experience in internal control systems, risk assessment, and compliance monitoring.
- Experience in statutory reporting, tax filing, VAT compliance, payroll management, and regulatory reporting.
- Hands-on experience using accounting software such as Peachtree, QuickBooks, or ERP platforms.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits, including preparation of audit schedules and documentation.
Languages - Proficiency in English and Amharic (spoken and written).
- Additional Ethiopian languages are an advantage.

Key Roles and Responsibilities - Maintain accurate financial records, journals, ledgers, and accounts.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
- Process payments, invoices, salary sheets, reconciliations, and expense liquidations.
- Manage accounts receivables, payables, bank reconciliations, and cash flow tracking.
- Ensure compliance with tax requirements including VAT, withholding, pension, and income tax.
- Assist in budgeting, cost control, and financial forecasting activities.
- Support external audit processes with required documents and explanations.
