To strengthen its governance and internal controls, Droga Pharma is seeking a highly experienced Risk & Compliance Manager to join its leadership team.


Position: Risk & Compliance Manager

The Risk & Compliance Manager is responsible for safeguarding the organization by identifying risks, evaluating their potential impact, and ensuring compliance with Ethiopian laws and regulatory frameworks. The role requires strong analytical capabilities, a deep understanding of the local regulatory environment, and proven experience in managing high-level risk and compliance functions.


Key Responsibilities

1. Risk Identification & Assessment

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments covering operational, financial, strategic, compliance, and reputational risks.
  • Evaluate internal and external factors affecting the company’s risk exposure.
  • Develop and apply risk assessment models tailored to the organization’s operations.

2. Risk Mitigation & Internal Control

  • Design and implement risk mitigation strategies and action plans.
  • Recommend corrective measures to strengthen internal controls.
  • Monitor adherence to established risk policies and procedures.

3. Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure full compliance with Ethiopian laws, sector-specific regulations, and industry standards.
  • Track changes in relevant legal requirements such as National Bank of Ethiopia directives, AML/CFT rules, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare compliance reports for regulators and internal stakeholders.

4. Reporting & Communication

  • Prepare detailed risk and compliance reports for senior leadership.
  • Present insights on current risks, future threats, and mitigation strategies.
  • Provide training and awareness sessions for employees on risk management and compliance best practices.

5. Internal Audit Support & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with internal audit teams to assess the effectiveness of risk controls.
  • Review operational processes and recommend improvements to reduce vulnerabilities.

6. Crisis Management & Business Continuity

  • Support the development and maintenance of business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Participate in crisis response activities when risk events occur.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Management, Accounting, or other Business-related fields, with 10+ years of experience; OR
  • Master’s degree in the same fields with 8+ years of experience.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a senior management role is mandatory.

Preferred Sector Experience

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, manufacturing, or import–export risk management is an added advantage.
