Key Purpose Statement

To lead and drive the implementation of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) standards and systems across the Addis Ababa plant, ensuring compliance with The Coca-Cola Management System (TCCMS), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), legal requirements, and company policies while promoting a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and sustainable business performance.

SHEQ Leadership & Governance

  • Provide leadership and expert guidance on Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) matters within the plant.
  • Drive the implementation and continuous improvement of SHEQ systems in line with CCBA standards, TCCMS, GMP, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support plant management in integrating SHEQ objectives into daily operations and strategic priorities.
  • Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and operational excellence across all plant functions.

SHEQ Strategy Execution & Compliance

  • Develop and execute plant SHEQ plans and initiatives aligned with company standards and business objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, food safety, environmental, and occupational health and safety requirements.
  • Lead SHEQ audits, inspections, and compliance reviews, ensuring timely closure of corrective actions.
    Maintain effective management systems and ensure adherence to TCCMS and GMP requirements.

Risk Management & Safety Excellence

  • Drive a safety-first culture through employee engagement, behavioral safety programs, and targeted interventions.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate SHEQ risks that could impact employees, consumers, operations, or the environment.
  • Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Monitor plant safety performance and ensure effective implementation of risk reduction initiatives.

Quality Assurance & Product Integrity

  • Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of food safety and quality management systems.
  • Monitor quality performance indicators and drive initiatives that improve product quality and process capability.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects aimed at enhancing product consistency and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure timely resolution of quality deviations, customer complaints, and non-conformance issues.

Environmental Sustainability & Resource Management

  • Drive environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives within the plant.
  • Lead programs focused on water conservation, energy efficiency, waste reduction, and environmental stewardship.
  • Monitor environmental performance and ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and company requirements.
  • Promote responsible resource utilization and continuous improvement in environmental performance.

Incident & Crisis Management

  • Lead plant-level incident management and crisis response processes related to safety, quality, and environmental events.
  • Ensure timely reporting, investigation, and resolution of incidents.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams during incident response and recovery activities.
  • Implement preventive measures to minimize recurrence and strengthen operational resilience.

Capability Development & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and strengthen SHEQ capabilities through coaching, mentoring, and training programs.
  • Promote continuous improvement through trend analysis, root cause analysis, and implementation of best practices.

Stakeholder Management & Reporting

  • Engage with regulatory authorities, certification bodies, and internal stakeholders on plant SHEQ matters.
  • Prepare and present SHEQ performance reports to plant leadership.
  • Support external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve SHEQ objectives and business targets.

Skills, Experience & Education
Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7 years’ Quality Control experience in the beverage industry.
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a Supervisory or Managerial capacity.
  • Proven experience in implementing and managing SHEQ systems within a manufacturing environment.
