About the Role
The MEAL Coordinator (National Position) provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for Planning, Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) across WHH Ethiopia’s country programme. The role strengthens programme quality, accountability, results‑based management, and learning through robust systems and evidence‑based decision‑making.
- Duty Station: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
- Reports to: Head of Programme Development and Quality
- Contract Duration: 2 years, renewable based on performance and funding
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership and technical oversight for MEAL across WHH Ethiopia programmes
- Ensure compliance with WHH MEAL standards, CHS commitments, and donor requirements
- Lead needs assessments, baselines, monitoring, evaluations, and data quality assurance
- Guide programme teams in results‑based design (theories of change, logframes, indicators, targets)
- Oversee MEAL information systems, digital data collection, analysis, reporting, and visualization
- Strengthen accountability through participation, information‑sharing, and feedback mechanisms
- Ensure safe, ethical, and confidential data management practices
- Promote learning and adaptive management through reviews and learning events
- Build capacity of staff and partners via training, coaching, and mentoring
- Coordinate partner reporting, conduct joint data reviews, and support data quality improvements
- Represent WHH in MEAL, accountability, and information management coordination forums
Qualifications & Experience
- Advanced degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Statistics, Economics, or related field
- Minimum 5 years’ progressive experience in MEAL/PMEL or programme cycle management in humanitarian/development contexts
- Strong expertise in results‑based management, indicator development, and research methods
- Proven experience in assessments, surveys, evaluations, and translating findings into programme improvements
- Experience in accountability to affected populations, including feedback/complaints mechanisms and CHS knowledge
- Capacity‑building skills (training, coaching, mentoring)
- Practical experience with digital data collection, information management systems, and data visualization tools
- Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills in English; Amharic knowledge is an asset
- Ability to work collaboratively with partners and multicultural teams
- Willingness to travel regularly to project locations
