Regional Youth Engagement Intern – UN Development Coordination Office (DCO-Africa).
The United Nations Development Coordination Office (DCO) Regional Office for Africa (DCO-Africa) is in search of a Regional Youth Engagement Intern to assist with youth-oriented initiatives throughout Africa.
Founded in July 2019 in Addis Ababa, DCO-Africa offers strategic assistance to 53 Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams in the execution of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the African Union Agenda 2063.
Position: Regional Youth Engagement Intern
Qualifications & Requirements
Applicants must meet one of the following:
- Be enrolled in a graduate programme (Master’s/PhD or equivalent)
- Be in the final year of a Bachelor’s degree
- Have completed a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD
Preferred Fields:
- International Relations
- Public Policy
- Social Sciences
- Communications
- Related disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
1. Programme Analysis on Youth Engagement
- Analyze youth engagement across Africa through UN Cooperation Frameworks
- Identify how youth priorities are reflected in national development efforts
- Research innovation and digital solutions that support youth participation
- Document best practices from UN Country Teams and partners
2. Events and Campaigns
- Support organization of regional youth engagement events
- Assist coordination with Resident Coordinators and UN Country Teams
- Prepare concept notes, campaign materials, and event documentation
- Engage youth networks and stakeholders for inclusive participation
3. Knowledge Products & Media Monitoring
- Develop briefs, summaries, and key messages on youth engagement
- Support inputs for DCO Policy Bulletin
- Compile daily news headlines related to Africa and sustainable development
4. Additional Support
- Assist in webinars, meetings, and reporting
- Take meeting notes and provide administrative support as needed
