St. Luke Catholic Hospital
The St. Luke Catholic Hospital, located in Wolisso, Ethiopia, has been delivering medical care and assistance to the residents of the South West Shoa zone since 2001, with the support of CUAMM – Doctors with Africa. The hospital provides a range of general medical services, including ophthalmology, orthopaedics, paediatrics, neonatology, general surgery, obstetrics, and gynaecology.
Each year, the hospital trains approximately 30 nurses and midwives. These professionals are subsequently employed by the hospital or local health centres, contributing to the ongoing development of the healthcare sector and enhancing access for the local community. The hospital depends on donations for its operations, as 67% of the patients it serves are unable to afford the medical fees for their treatments. Consequently, they rely on the hospital to cover these expenses.
