Positive action for Development (PAD) is an Ethiopian resident’s civil Society organization with active registration status at Federal Level. The organization initially licensed at Ethiopian Federal Democratic Charities and Societies agency on June 6/2011 with a registration number 2330.  The organization has also been re-registered and accorded legal personality with registry number 2330 on May 22, 2019 as Local Organization in accordance with the civil society organization proclamation No. 1113/2019.

Position 1: Protection Officer

Qualifications: BA/MA/MSc Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Law, Gender Studies, International Development, or other related fields.

Experience: Minimum of four (4) years of relevant work experience, including at least three (2) years in INGOs/NNGOs within the protection sector, with a focus on GBV, Child Protection, and/or MHPSS.

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in the local language (Afar), both written and verbal, is a mandatory requirement.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts, particularly in the Afar region, is highly desirable.

  • Experience coordinating with woreda and zonal protection offices, local facilities, and implementing partners to ensure harmonized service delivery.
  • Ability to represent the organization in protection cluster meetings, planning sessions, and joint field assessments.

Adaptability and Professionalism

  • Flexible and solution-oriented, with the ability to adapt to changing project contexts, such as supply chain disruptions or emergency response needs.
  • Maintains professional ethics, client confidentiality, and organizational values in all aspects of work.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in demanding humanitarian settings, including conflict-affected, resource-constrained, and remote areas.

Position 2: WASH Officer

Qualifications: BSc/MSc Degree in Water Supply, Hydraulic Engineering, Water and Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or other related water fields.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of relevant work experience, including at least three (3) years in INGOs/NNGOs within the WASH sector.

  • Proven experience in planning, designing, and implementing new water supply construction/rehabilitation, solar water pumping systems, sanitation infrastructure, and hygiene promotion activities, particularly in emergency and crisis-affected settings.

Skills Required:

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in local language (Afaraf), both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.

Position 3: Case Worker

Qualifications: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Public Health, Nursing, Law, or other related fields.

Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience in a humanitarian or development context, with a specific focus on providing direct case management services for GBV survivors, vulnerable children, and/or MHPSS.

Skills Required:

  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Fluency in the local language (Afar), both written and verbal, is a mandatory requirement.
  • Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts, particularly in the Afar region, is highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including vulnerable individuals and communities.

Position 4: Field Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting Officer

Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics, Development Studies, Economics, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).

Work Experience: At least 2 to 4 years of relevant experience in monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning in development or humanitarian projects.

Skills:

  • We seek candidates who are committed to understanding local dynamics and integrating conflict-aware practices into all aspects of our work
  • Strong experience in designing MEL frameworks, conducting and/or supporting evaluations, and facilitating learning.
  • Strong skills in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Kobo/ODK, SPSS, STATA, or similar data management platforms.
  • Good understanding of results-based management, indicators, and logical frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and report writing skills.
  • Ability to work in field settings and collaborate with program teams and communities.

Place of Work: Abala, in Zone 2, with frequent travel to Bidu and Erebti Woredas

Position 5: Field-Level Project Coordinator

Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Management, Public Health, Psychology, Social Work, Project Management, or a related field (Master’s degree is an advantage).

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in humanitarian or development project management in a relevant sector (Health, Protection, WASH).
  • Proven experience (at least 3 years) in a leadership or senior management position in a complex and remote emergency setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in coordinating multisectoral projects, specifically those incorporating Protection and WASH components in addition to Health and Nutrition interventions.
  • Experience working in the Afar Region or other pastoralist contexts is a strong asset.

Skills:

  • Strong technical knowledge of integrated health, protection, and WASH programming.
  • Excellent skills in donor reporting, proposal development, and budget management.
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams in remote and challenging operational environments.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English and Afarigna is mandatory.
  • Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO).

Place of Work: Abala, in Zone 2, with frequent travel to Bidu and Erebti Woredas

Position 6: Health Officer

Qualification:  Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Health Officer, or Medicine from a recognized institution with a valid professional License

Work Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in primary healthcare, nutrition, or emergency response programs.

  • Experience working in humanitarian contexts, mobile clinics, or hard-to-reach areas is highly desirable.

Skills Required:

Health Project Management

  • Proven experience in planning, implementing, and monitoring health-related projects, particularly in primary health care, disease prevention, and health system strengthening.
  • Strong skills in setting project targets, tracking progress, and producing analytical reports aligned with donor and government expectations.

Clinical and Public Health Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of national primary health care service packages and the Ethiopian Primary Health Care (EPHC) clinical guidelines.
  • Ability to interpret and apply national protocols related to communicable diseases, maternal and child health, and emergency care.

Drug and Medical Supply Management

  • Familiarity with essential drug lists and national pharmaceutical supply systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating the procurement, distribution, and inventory management of medical supplies and drugs in compliance with donor and MOH standards.
  • Ability to ensure rational drug use, support forecasting, and prevent stock-outs through proper tracking and reporting tools.
