Position 1: Senior Accountant-Budget and Cost

  • Report to: Budget and Cost Division Manager
  • Location: Addis Ababa (Head Office)

  1. Job Summary

While performing the list of duties and responsibilities listed hereunder, the employees are expected to avoid legal & procedural challenges by complying with the rules & regulations of the Government Office & the Companies’ Procedural Manual. In addition, the employees are obliged to keep the company’s information and data confidential.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collecting cost information and maintaining an expenses database.
  • Collect, follow-up, and post bank advice, subject to GIT cost accumulation. /Daily/
  • Prepare inventory turnover and inventory status with return items each week, month, quarterly, semiannually, and annually, /As required/
  • Follow up on the formats developed for internal use for the cost accumulation functions are properly and orderly implemented;
  • Prepare the cost sheet for imported goods & spare parts & submit for checking. /Daily as required
  • Register and reconcile its GL for Original custom declaration documents/Daily/
  • Posting goods receiving voucher after cost sheet checking. /Daily/
  • Update the cost sheet summary, reconcile with GL, and report for checking. /Until the 5th day of next month/
  • Prepare the budget by assisting each department’s budget as per the company’s procedural manual schedule and submit for checking.
  • Follow up to ensure all the company’s financial practices are in line with company annual budget
  • Other Tasks Assigned by the supervisor
  • Responsible for implementing and following the company policy & procedure
  • Responsible for the missing document after effecting the payment.
  • Responsible for preparing the cost sheet on time and closing GIT purchased from abroad.

    Competencies:

  • Experience with Peachtree accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical skills with an attention to detail
  • Knowledge in using ERP System
  1. Required Qualifications:
    • Qualification: BA/MBA in Accounting
    • 4 Years for MBA 6 Years for BA with 2 years in a position of responsibility
    • Basic computer knowledge with accounting applications
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills, Ability to withstand pressure, Ability to make logical and timely decisions, Ability to prepare analytical reports.

Position 2: Section Manager-Import Operations

Job Title: Section Manager – Import Operations
Department: Supply Chain
Reports To: Import H/ Division Manager
Location: Bole, Addis Ababa
Job Purpose:
The Section Manager- Import Operation is responsible for coordinating and executing all import-related
activities to ensure the timely, cost-effective, and compliant importation of goods and materials.
The role involves close collaboration with international suppliers, customs authorities, freight
forwarders, and internal stakeholders to guarantee smooth logistics operations and adherence to
applicable trade regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Import Operations Management
• Coordinate with international suppliers to ensure accurate, timely, and complete
documentation for all inbound shipments.
• Liaise with customs brokers, freight forwarders, banks, and regulatory bodies to facilitate
smooth and timely customs clearance and release of goods.
• Verify import documentation for accuracy and completeness (invoices, packing lists, bill
of lading, certificates of origin, etc.).
• Ensure all imports comply with Ethiopian customs laws, import/export regulations, and
NBE foreign currency procedures.
• Follow up with suppliers, freight forwarders, and clearing agents to ensure timely
shipment, clearance, and delivery of goods.
• Track and update shipment status, identifying and resolving potential delays or issues
promptly.
Compliance and Documentation
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of import laws, tariffs, and customs requirements.
• Prepare and organize all import-related documentation for internal and external audits.
• Ensure all import activities meet national and international trade, banking, and regulatory
requirements.
• Support accurate declaration and valuation of imported items to avoid penalties or
compliance risks.
Cost Control and Reporting
• Monitor and analyze import-related costs (freight, insurance, customs duties, handling
charges, etc.) to ensure cost-effectiveness.
• Prepare regular reports on shipment status, supplier performance, cost variance, and
clearance turnaround time.
• Identify opportunities to optimize shipping routes, minimize import expenses, and
improve lead times.
Stakeholder Coordination
• Work closely with internal departments—Procurement, Finance, and Warehousing—to
align import activities with company needs.
• Liaise with banks for LC (Letter of Credit) processing, foreign payments, and
documentation.
• Maintain productive relationships with customs brokers, regulatory authorities, and
logistics partners.
Continuous Improvement and Support
• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance import efficiency,
compliance, and documentation accuracy.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior import staff when required.
• Contribute to supplier evaluation and performance reviews related to import logistics.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.

• A minimum of 4 years of experience in import operations, logistics, or customs clearance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.

Position 3: Senior import officer

Job Title: Senior Import Officer

Location: Bole, Addis Ababa
Job Purpose

The Senior Import Officer is responsible for leading and overseeing the organization’s end-to-end import operations, ensuring the timely, cost-effective, and compliant procurement and delivery of imported goods and materials. The role plays a critical part in managing international logistics, customs compliance, foreign currency processes, supplier coordination, and risk mitigation. The Senior Import Officer works closely with suppliers, banks, regulatory authorities, customs agencies, and internal stakeholders to optimize import processes, control costs, and support business continuity while ensuring full compliance with national and international trade regulations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage end-to-end import operations, including shipment planning, tracking, and delivery.
  • Coordinate with international suppliers to ensure timely shipment of goods.
  • Prepare, review, and process import documentation, including:
    • Commercial Invoices
    • Packing Lists
    • Bills of Lading/Airway Bills
    • Certificates of Origin
    • Insurance Documents
    • Import Permits and Licenses
  • Liaise with customs authorities, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and clearing agents to facilitate smooth customs clearance.
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations, customs laws, and company policies.
  • Monitor shipment schedules and proactively resolve delays or clearance issues.
  • Calculate and verify import costs, duties, taxes, and related expenses.
  • Maintain accurate import records and documentation for audit and reporting purposes.
  • Coordinate with finance, procurement, and warehouse teams regarding imported goods.
  • Prepare import status reports and provide updates to management.
  • Identify opportunities to optimize import processes and reduce logistics costs.
  • Manage and evaluate the performance of clearing agents and logistics service providers.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Business, or a related field.

• A minimum of 3 years of experience in import operations, logistics, or customs clearance, with at least 1 year at a senior level.
