The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) is looking to hire an intern for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Unit located in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) aims to enhance the quality of life for individuals in low- and middle-income nations through livestock science, which plays a vital role in creating equitable and resilient livestock systems that facilitate the transformation of food systems while providing climate and environmental advantages. It stands out as the sole CGIAR research center among 15 that is exclusively focused on animal agriculture research for developing countries. Co-hosted by Kenya and Ethiopia, ILRI operates regional or country offices and projects across East, South, and Southeast Asia, in addition to Central, East, Southern, and West Africa.

Position: ILRI Internship: Information Communication and Technology Unit

The ideal candidate should : –

1. Be currently enrolled for an undergraduate university degree program and is pursuing a bachelor’s in either Computers Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or related field.
2. Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
3. Possess good command in written and spoken English language.

The ILRI ICT department is responsible for providing technical support that enables ILRI staff to communicate, collaborate and effectively perform their duties. Support is offered across business systems, SharePoint updates, computer hardware, software, cybersecurity, and networking. The department ensures operational efficiency by maintaining an up-to-date IT infrastructure.

The intern will support ILRI’s ICT service desk by assisting with ICT service desk ticket management activities. Additionally, the intern will also get oriented to the various ICT units and functions they perform.

Key responsibilities:

The intern will work closely with the staff in the department and be involved in the following tasks: –

1.    Manning the ICT service desk and assigning tickets to the appropriate technicians.
2.    Provision of basic support to users of ICT Services.
3.    Performing routines diagnostics to ICT systems.
4.    Assist with setting up physical & virtual meetings.
5.    Cleanup of records in various ICT systems.
6.    Testing of new software and technical tools.
7.    Installing new software and hardware on endpoints.
8.    Delivering hardware and resources to staff as required.
9.    Perform other duties as  may be allocated by the supervisor.

Duration: 3 months.

The internship at ILRI will offer:

•    A monthly stipend to meet day-to-day living expenses.
•    Medical insurance for the internship duration.

Location: ILRI Addis Ababa – Ethiopia.
