Global Insurance Company (S.C.) (GIC) is a private insurance firm that was founded in March 1997 by 23 initial shareholders, with a paid-up capital of Birr 3.75 million.
Currently, it has grown to a paid-up capital of Birr 150.6 million and an authorized capital of Birr 250 million. As of June 2020, GIC has 176 shareholders and total assets exceeding Birr 413 million, operating from its own premises located at Addis Ababa, Gobena Abba Tigu Street (Somale Tera). GIC is presently providing its general insurance services through 21 branches and one contact office located in Addis Ababa and various regions of the country.
